Describes Germany’s most successful U-boat Commander, Otto Kretschmer, and his boat U 99, which bore a golden horseshoe as its crest. His victims included three Armed Merchant Cruisers before he was sunk and captured by Captain Walker in 1941. Reissued in 1980 with the title Night Raider of the Atlantic, which was also the title of the original American edition. Republished in 2000 in paperback by Tempus in the Fortunes of War Series, ISBN: 0752420194.
