The Dutch joined with the US, British and Australians as a fourth ally, providing the bulk of allied merchant shipping in the Pacific, operating a fleet of warships and submarines as well as aircraft and running specialist army units. Covers the Japanese invasion of the Indies, the evacuation to Australia, the Dutch part in the allied fight out of Australia and their post war return to the Indies. Includes personal recollections and anecdotes.	view

The author was a Dutch Naval Officer who fought in the Netherlands in 1940 and refused to give the Germans his parole. In 1941 he escaped from Colditz and reached England via Switzerland and Spain. He took command of MTB 203, based at Dover and in 1944 was promoted to be SNO for Dutch coastal forces based at Dover. He ended the war in a staff post	view

Although not in English, the Dutch Merchant Fleet was of such importance that this excellent history is worth listing - and proves surprisingly easy to use.	view

The last item of this series covers the large Dutch cruiser sunk in the Battle of the Java Sea while ABDA flagship. It is a largely technical description which does, however, also give details of her last fight.	view
