Merchants account book. Large bound volume of accounts of London Merchant engaged in trade with Russia, kept by a succession of clerks. It is mainly a record of amounts due, bank accounts and bills of exchange. Commodities include indigo, potash, soldiers cloth, linen, cotton wool from Smyrna, lead, iron, hemp, hides and caviar. Much merchandise was shipped from Hull to Petersburg. Includes personal accounts of the estate of Samuel Holden of Winchester Street , London and Roehampton. 1740-65
